Former Rams running back signs 1 year deal to beome a Chicago Bear.
This morning, former backup running back and kick-return specialist, Benny Cunningham, signed a one year deal with the Chicago Bears. In his career with the Rams he averaged 4.4 ypc. Coincidentally, Benny had his first career 100 yard game versus the Bears. He will be missed most of all in the kickoff return game, where he averaged over 27 ypr in his career with the Rams. It was expected that Benny would move on after the Rams signed Lance Dunbar to a one year 3 million dollar deal. Benny was always a class act and a model Ram.
From us here at sidelined rams, best of luck Benny!

The Rams were very active in free agency Thursday. They added free agent Connor Barwin and Lance Dunbar. Connor Barwin brings leadership and experience to Wade Phillips 3-4 defense, while Lance Dunbar appears to be a change of pace back for Todd Gurley. At this point it seems as if the Rams are expecting Benny Cunningham to sign with another team.
In Connor Barwin’s last stint with Wade Phillips he put up 11.5 sacks. He is also familiar and effective playing in a 3-4 defense. The Rams are hoping he can be as productive as he was then. He comes with just a one year 6 million dollar deal. Lets hope he can add some stability and leadership to this young LA defense.
Lance Dunbar comes a little cheaper at a one year 3 million dollar deal with incentives. He will make a strong push to be Gurley’s backup. With his pass-catching ability, McVay can be very creative with Dunbar’s skill set.
